little information is available regarding 1950s/60s supermodel Anne St. Marie. what i do know is that she was rumoured to have suffered a nervous breakdown, and that a fim entitled
Puzzle of a Downfall Child (1970), starring
Faye Dunaway as a former model on a downward spiral to ruin, was based upon recorded conversations between St. Marie and photographer/filmmaker
Jerry Schatzberg.
These are such beautiful pictures- but it was sad to read about her breakdown- it seems a common occurrence though...
ReplyDeletebeautiful images!!!!!! thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful woman...especially the smoking one. One wonders what really happened to cause the breakdown but then again, it's nice to know it is private.
ReplyDeleteSuch is so captivating beautiful...something about her reminds me ever so slightly of a young Angelica Houston (the dark hair and well defined check bones perhaps).
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely evening, sweetie!

i would love to have a swim cap like that
ReplyDeletei have been very into the vintage beach photo's
perhaps because it is summer :)
What a sad story! She was stunning...
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled on this post...Anne St.Marie's cause of breakdown was her inability to accept that she has grown too old for modeling and that the photographers were no longer booking her. She took booze and pills until she died of her own disillusionment.
ReplyDeleteThat is simply not true! She had amental illness, and passed away fairly young from Cancer!
ReplyDeletedon't look at me guys, as i said in the post above, little information is available about Anne's life, and i don't pretend to know what eventually happened to her. i only hope that she found some peace.
